Free cell phone service you should know about

Written by josh on October 14th, 2013

FreedomPop just launched a free cell phone service.

Upon celebration of its one-year anniversary, FreedomPop promised 500MB of free 4G data, 500 free text messages, and 200 free anytime voice minutes, per month, for life, to FreedomPop subscribers. Additionally, calls between FreedomPop users don’t count in these minutes. They are always free.

If you need more minutes and texts than that, FreedomPop has an affordable plan you can select. The plan has unlimited voice and texting for $11/month. It’s contract and commitment free. If you switch to FreedomPop from AT&T or Verizon, the company boasts you’ll save 80 to 90 percent on your annual phone bill.

“A user paying $1,500 per year for mobile services today can save well over $1,000 per year for the same plan with FreedomPop,” CEO Stephen Stokols said in a statement. “That is real value, real savings and a real meteor to the current market dynamics.”

FreedomPop will launch on the HTC EVO Design smartphone, selling for a cheap and discounted $99. Later this year, additional Android handsets will be offered.

If you’d like to save money on your cell phone bill, check out FreedomPop’s service.
