Is VOIP secure?

Written by shannon on April 28th, 2010

A recent post on Voip-Voip brought up a good topic on internet security with VOIP. Most of us simply worry about quality, latency, and interoperability. Security is another thing we should worry about though considering our voice is being trasferred into data across the internet.

Voice traffic over VOIP is secured in a “Call management box” which are used for logging call information and serving up VOIP services and are susceptible to virus attacks and hackers. This could result in loss of sensitive data.

This is why it’s important to properly have the data locked down, placed behind firewalls, and monitored by intrusion-detection systems.

It goes much more into detail and essentially reminds you to secure your VOIP infrastructure if need be. IF your interested in this subject in much further detail, visit voip-voip.
