Free communication with great new app – Libon

Written by josh on November 28th, 2012

You know about Skype, and you know about Viber. You should now know about Orange Libon. Orange Libon is a brand new, exciting all-in-one communications app.

Libon offers free HD voice calls over 3G or Wi-Fi networks and claim their calls have “better than standard” qualities. Libon also provides free instant messaging, customized voicemail greetings depending on contacts, speech-to-text, and some functionally sound enhancements to the usual communications app.

For example, grouping is big in Libon. Communications are summarized by contacts, with IM, calls, and voicemails grouped together for each one. You can place contacts into groups so they receive personalized voicemail greetings and even a location. You can also set greetings to integrate the last tweet or Facebook status to add a little flavor to the greeting message.

Libon saves and syncs everything in the Libon cloud. Contacts, conversations and messages are all archived. If you ever lose your phone, just download Libon to get access back to it.

For all you techheads out there, Libon works with a superwideband HD voice codec and will support RCS (Rich Communications Services) functionality by early 2013.

France’s Telecom’s Orange launched Libon last week for iOS devices. They claim it will be available for Android early next year.
